Level: Really beginner or I know how to sew...

Duration: 15 hours / 3 hours per lesson / 1 lesson per week / total of 5 lessons

Materials: You will have access to one of our sewing machines and tools. We will provide fabric and supplies for your samples. However, you will have to bring clothes to repair or modify! We will also provide a tutorial to which you will be able to refer after the course.

Price: $275 taxes included

Language : This class will be taught in English

A course entirely dedicated to showing you how to repair holes, shorten, lengthen, taper or enlarge your clothes using a sewing machine. We will start by making several samples so that you can master the most common techniques. Afterwards, we will apply this new knowledge to fixing your own clothes! This course aims to allow you to gain autonomy and give a second life to your beloved clothes… for the good of the planet and your wallet ;)

On the menu:

Lesson 1: Basic Theory and Repairing holes

Round table and presentation of the 5 items of clothing you brought. This will be the opportunity to give you some advice! We will explain the different indicators to consider when choosing a garment (quality, durability, tailoring, fabric behaviour, cut, etc.), assess the level of complexity and feasibility of the adjustments or repairs you wish to make.

Exercises on samples (darning on a sewing machine, apply patches, repair holes by hand, how to rip effectively).

Lesson 2: Lengthen & shorten

Learn the different techniques for shortening and lengthening clothes and take measurements correctly. Exercises on samples (hemming jeans, T-shirts, invisible hems and adding stretch cuffs).

Lesson 3: Taper and Enlarge

We'll show you how to make a garment smaller and bigger using existing features. When to look for seam allowances, how and where to add fabric to make it look like it was part of the original design ;)

Exercises on samples (adding darts, letting out seams, and cinching pants without having to reinvent everything).

Lessons 4 & 5: Open projects

It's time to repair and fix your own clothes and cover more theory! We will help you to select the repairs and modifications that will allow you to put your new knowledge into practice and save your clothes!

Please pay a deposit of $ 75 to reserve your place. The balance of $ 200 has to be paid on the first class by debit card, credit card or cash. Please note that this deposit will not be refunded if you cancel your participation to the course less than 48 hours before the first class. If we have to cancel the class, your deposit will be refunded. Please note that by making this reservation, you confirm that you have read and approved our cancellation and refund policies :)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A VERY STRUCTURED CLASS. WE THEREFORE GENTLY ASK YOU TO RESPECT YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS AND BE ON TIME.
